 Late Muhammad Enayetur Rahman (April 14, 1943 - October 4, 2003).

It was around 4 am and i was in deep sleep when my mama (uncle) woke me up to tell me that abbu is no more. Easily the worst moment of my life.

Can’t believe it has been 15 years since that day. Today is abbu’s death anniversary, everyone please pray for him.

(Once again sharing this small writeup on him taken from my brother’s fb post-)

Former General Secretary (and also the VP) of DUCSU (1962-3). Incarcerated by the Ayub Khan Regime.

Called the famous meeting at Paltan, breaking the curfew. Fought against the oppression. Fought for Freedom. Fought for Democracy.

Organized youth movements in the 80s. Reorganized Dhaka Stock Exchange after the Crash of '96 as its Director.

Led the committees which automated DSE's trading system and created the Central Depository Bangladesh Limited.

Knew politics, history, and automobiles better than most. Took his sons to the bookshops in New Market every weekend.

Bought them the cassette which had The Police's 'King of Pain' on it. First one to inform them that Kurt Cobain had died.

Still missed during every match of West Indies cricket team and German football team, every formula one race, every trip to the bookshop, every car trouble, every viewing of 'The Guns of Navarone' (or any WWII movies), and, of course, every political discussion.

Cancer did what the bullets, batons, and prison couldn't.

The man, who lived and breathed Bangladesh, died a patriot, with a smile on his face.”
